Hello, my name is Roger Morris and like you, I also
have been looking for the best value for Stansted
Parking.
There are many parking options around Stansted
airport, and it can be difficult to find the right
one. So this website contains the best information
that I been able to find to help you choose the best
location.
Best Regards, Roger
Stansted parking has mirrored the growth of the
airport itself. Stansted is now the 3rd busiest
airport in the UK. The airport has become a hub for
low cost flyers including Ryanair and Easyjet. It
has more scheduled European destinations than any
other airport in the world. It's a hugely popular
airport, but it's much less convenient to get to
than others, such as Gatwick or Heathrow.
Flights may be low cost, but Stansted parking is
not. There are a number of car parking facilities to
choose from: Long stay parking
Mostly used by holidaymakers who will be away for
more than a few days, although anyone can make use
of this car park for any length of stay. As far as
cheap Stansted car parking, this is the lowest cost form
of parking at Stansted and far less than the
mid-stay car park. The long stay car parks are about
10 minutes ride from the terminal, depending on
traffic and number of passenger stops..
To be picked up for your journey to the terminal you
need to make your way to the various bus shelters
spread about the car parks. Spaces next to these
shelters always fill up first so it is a good idea
if you are not alone to drop off your family or
friends at the bus stop saving you having to drag
luggage across the car park. These buses come round
about every 5 to 7 minutes but at peak periods they
soon fill and waiting times can be longer and the
same for the journey back from the terminal.
Mid stay Parking
Mostly used by business people who don’t want to get
caught up with all the holidaymakers and their
luggage. Also this service is more frequent with a
shorter transfer to and from the terminal.
Short stay Parking
Mostly used for dropping off or collecting
passengers. Sometimes passengers who are on an
internal flight returning the same day make use of
this car park. Not recommended for use if your stay
is more than 24 hours because the costs are very
expensive (around £30 per day)
Valet Parking - Meet and Greet service
This is the easiest, but most expensive way of
Stansted parking where you are met close to
departures and upon your return your car can be
picked up at the close by short stay car park and
away you go. Valet parking is about double the price
of the long stay car park.
Whichever, facility you decide to use, you must book
your Stansted airport parking beforehand because if
you just turn up you will be stung! To give you some
idea, of these costs, if you were to leave your car
in the short stay for 8 days the cost per day is
nearly £30 a day.
When it comes to getting to Stansted airport there are a number of options. There is a railway station below the terminal building with services to Cambridge, Leicester, the Midlands and London. However with the train, times of operation are not always convenient, and travel by car is often preferred for convenience.
When it comes to Stansted car parking, options are
fairly limited. Stansted airport parking has always
been expensive, as when it comes to convenience,
there have previously been few options aside from
the official airport parking. Short term parking is
convenient, although quite expensive. Long term
parking has always been prohibitively expensive.
Recently with the increasing use of Web 2.0 sites
and mobile phone communication, a new alternative
has arisen for Stansted parking, which wasn’t
possible just a few years ago.
Near Stansted airport there are a number of people
living very close that will let you park on their
driveway for as little as £3 per day. Rather than
leave their driveways empty, they offer them to
airport travelers for long term cheap Stansted
airport parking. It is a win-win situation as both
residents and travelers benefit. There is a website
which provides a meeting place for driveway owners
and people that need a parking space called
parkatmyhouse. Using Google Maps (http://maps.google.co.uk/),
the system lets travelers view exactly where they
are going to be parked. It includes a rating system
for users to rate their service, so you know what to
expect.
This is certainly a great way to get cheap Stansted
parking, and is flexible too. In addition these
local residents provide a shuttle service direct to
the terminal building which is only a 5-minute drive
away. They also usually pick you up upon your
return, or arrange a short taxi ride. You can SMS
text them when you are waiting for your bags and
usually when you walk out someone will be waiting
for you. This really is an excellent way to save
money when parking. The service is also available at
other major airports in the UK.
Travelling is a stressful experience, but there's no
reason why you should start your trip feeling
frazzled, with a little planning first, your trip
will be made easier with Stansted parking planning.
When you are looking for Stansted parking near the airport, there are a wide choice of options. It really depends on your requirements and budget. You may be looking for cheap Stansted parking, a compromise on cost and time, or parking that is faster and more convenient.
Stansted Airport is a large passenger airport with a single
runway and hub for a number of major European low-cost
airlines. It is located in the Uttlesford District in Essex
about 30 miles (48 km) north-east of London. It is about
outside Bishop’s Stortford and outside Harlow.
Here are the choices of Stansted parking in price order
(most expensive first):
1) Meet and Greet services, where an agent will meet you at
the gate, have preferred stansted airport parking, and whisk
you away to your destination
2) Valet parking, ideal for travellers wanting the ultimate
convenience, and speed or those with luggage or children
3) Short term stansted car parking for a short period of
time, such as when meeting family or friends from a flight,
or seeing someone off
4) Long stay Stansted parking for a holiday or longer trip,
typically some way from the terminal served by a free
courtesy coach
5) Cheap Stansted parking, with your car in a local area car
park, or even on somebody’s nearby property – which works
out cheapest, but you have to make your own way to the
terminal.
So there you have it – a trade off of time versus money for
Stansted parking.
Stansted airport began its life during WWII as a USAAF bomber base. It has quickly developed over the years and is now London's third major airport, greatly helped by the explosion of the package holiday during the 60's, and more recently the cheap flight operators.
Today Stansted is the UK's fourth busiest airport and home
of the leading low-cost scheduled airlines. Over 20 million
passengers travel through Stansted airport and there are
over 120 destinations available.
The modern terminal at Stansted has a range of passenger
facilities including a good selection of shops and places to
eat. For business travellers there are conference rooms and
points for internet access.
Stansted parking prices are not fixed, as there is quite a lot of competition. You may find that prices are different from when you book, to when you arrive. A price you see quoted on the website one week may have changed by the following week. Fortunately booking early locks in your price at that time.
Have your car registration number handy when booking, as entry to some car parks works by a system of number plate recognition. If the car park doesn't have your correct car registration number this can delay your entry into the car park. For block parking and valet parking the car registration number is important for the car park staff when identifying your car, in preparation to meet you on the terminal forecourt or to have your car in the right position for collection when you return to the airport: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stansted_airport
